What is web chat?
Web chat is a world wide web based real time chat forum. It works by reloading the same page, which is constantly changing as people post messages to the forum.

What do I need to use it?
All you need is a modern browser that supports client-pulls. Basically, if you use a fairly recent version of the Netscape, Microsoft, or NCSA browser you should be all set. Even if your browser is not a modern browser, you can still participate, but you will have to manually refresh (reload) the main chat page.

How can I change the name I chose?
For now, the easiest way to do this is to exit out and re-enter. Click on the CyberNude link at the top of the page, then from there go back into the initial chat page, where you can re-enter your name.

Chat Rules:
  1. Always be polite, remember you are chatting with real people who have real feelings.
  2. No obnoxious, profane, or abusive postings. Let's keeps this clean and friendly.
  3. Remember, nudity does not equal sex. Sexually oriented postings are inappropriate here.
  4. Socialize, don't monopolize. You are encouraged to make friends, but it is rude to expect a person's exclusive attention.
  5. Speak up for standards. If a person seems unaware of appropriate etiquette, explain it, kindly and plainly.
  6. If you are a member, you have the ability to boot abusive users from chat. Use this wisely. DON'T ABUSE THIS POWER. Please give people the benefit of the doubt, and a chance to correct themselves.

Failure to comply with these rules may result in a loss of access priviledges and/or termination of membership without refund.

Guidelines:

Auto Refresh:
The auto refresh is a function of modern browsers that allows them to automatically reload the current page. This is how you get updated with any posting by other people in the chat group. The refresh rate can be set to your desired duration, anywhere from every 15 seconds to every 60 seconds. If you are on a slow connection, you will want a longer duration between refreshes. You can change the refresh rate on the auto-refresh screen by simply clicking on the number of the desired duration.

Posting a Message:
To post a message, click on the "Post Message" button. This will bring up a text entry box. Enter you message in the text box and press the "Post Message" button again. Your message will be posted to the top of the list, and you will be returned to the main screen again.

Troubleshooting:
Chat page does not refresh.
If you are on the post message screen (your screen has a large text entry box on it), then this is normal. If the screen were to refresh while you were entering a message to post, you could lose your message. If you are on the main message list screen, then you probably have a broswer that does not support client-pulls. This site works best with Netscape 2.0, but there are several others browsers that will work quite well here also. Until you are able to get a newer browser, you will have to refresh manually. Use either the refresh link on the main screen, or the "Manual Refresh" button on the post message screen.

My name appears twice in the Who's Here window.
This happens when you have to re-enter the chat session. The old name will disappear after a few minutes.

My browser hangs and no longer refreshes.
This is a problem with some browsers running on Windows 95. The problem is in the way they deal with keep-alive web servers. The only suggestion for this problem is to download a newer version of your browser. Netscape browsers prior to version 3.0b5 have been know to have this problem, which has been fixed in version 3.0b5. To my knowledge, this is only a problem on Windows 95 systems.
